The palace on the lake in Udaipur is stunning. Its serene and opulent atmosphere will enchant you with its lovely fountains, well manicured gardens, and succession of courtyards flanked by many columns. The apartments are adorned with sculptured arches, inland stones, murals, and masonry, giving them an opulent air.

There are 83 rooms in the five-star hotel, and each one is special in its own way; no two are ever the same. The palace’s initial intent was not to serve as a hotel; therefore its expansion was subject to the whims of the several royal families who lived there, each of which made sure to leave their mark.

Smack dab in the middle of picturesque Lake Pichola is where you will find the Taj Lake Palace. The majestic Taj Lake Palace, perched majestically on the edge of Lake, is a historic residence dating back to the 18th century in the City of Lakes. It provides an otherworldly glimpse into the life of royalty.

History
One of the world’s most renowned and romantic hotels is the Taj Lake Palace Udaipur. Udaipur, often called the “Venice of the East,” is home to Lake Pichola, where you’ll find the former pleasure palace of Maharana Jagat Singh II. The palace is surrounded by pure waterways and other natural splendour, and its marble dĂ©cor glistens in the water. The palace, which was once called Jag Niwas, is now the world-famous Taj Lake Palace Hotel, and it continues to provide guests with the same level of opulent comfort, regal allure, and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This magnificent palace was first conceived by the then-prince Maharana Jagat Singh II of Udaipur in 1743 AD and was finished in 1746 AD as Jag Niwas. After getting in trouble with his father for sneaking off to the neighbouring Jag Mandir palace with the zenana women under the cover of night, he swore he would not go back until he had constructed his own palace.

The royal family turned it into Udaipur’s first five-star hotel in 1963, when India gained independence from Britain and the republic was formed.

Since its rebranding as the Taj Lake Palace, the hotel has become one of the most opulent and famous historic properties in all of India and the world.
